So, How Do the iCarsoft V2.0 and V3.0 OBD Scanners Differ?
iCarsoft car scanners are amongst the most feature-laden and effective on the market, which is why the brand is held in such high regard in the industry. At LJM Car Diagnostics, we offer a wide range of high quality OBD scanners and we can attest to the fact that they supply some of our most popular lines.
In this article, we take a look at the difference between the iCarsoft V2.0 devices and the new iCarsoft V3.0 scanners as to the layman, it’s obvious that it might be a little confusing. One costs a little more than the other, so let’s see what that extra cost gets you.
Here’s What Hasn’t Changed
Ok, so when you look at them you’ll notice that it’s extremely difficult to tell the difference between the BMM V 3.0 or the BMM V 2.0. That’s because from the outside both car diagnostic scanners are identical. What also hasn’t changed is the 4 inch TFT LCD screen and the fact that the new one, like the V 2.0 is able to support multi-system diagnostic, fault code and live data functions.
The 8 service functions are identical too with Oil, SAS, EPB, DPF, ETCs, BMS, BLD and INJ functions all available.
Here’s What HAS Changed
The first change of note is that the iCarsoft V 3.0 is able to conduct actuation tests and auto VIN identity checks whereas the V2.0 OB2 scanner could not. Also there are a number of extra special service functions that relate to a range of systems that include:- Airbag crash data resets
- Active damping control module tests
- Adaptive speed control systems
- Instrument cluster module tests
So, the extra £30 or so does get you a number of extra features. So, do you really need them? That’s what we look at next.
Who Are the Extra Functions Aimed at?
So, we’ve mentioned some pretty useful stuff that the V 3.0 iCarsoft car scanner series can take care of, but it might still not be enough to go on if you’re new to this kind of thing. Well, the truth is that the V2.0 still offers a lot and to general car owners who are looking for a good range of functions for a low price, it’s still one that we’d recommend.
The V 3.0 OBD2 scanner , on the other hand, is aimed at owners of high-performance automobiles or professionals who need to offer a wider selection of diagnostic services for a wider range of cars. If you fall into the second category then you’re better spending the extra money as you’ll certainly use what it offers.
