iCarsoft LR V4.0 - Land Rover & Jaguar Professional Diagnostic Tool

The iCarsoft LR V4.0 comes packaged with a wide range of useful features for technicians, including:

• General Diagnostics: Read and erase fault codes, and detect and translate the most common codes and warnings on the vehicle display. This includes the airbags, transmission, and engine, among others. Access to a full DTC library, as well as the ability to clear and read data in real time.

• Multi-Language Support: English, French, German, Spanish, and Dutch

• Compatible with a wide range of OBDII/EOBD testing modes (J1850 PWM, CAN, J1850 VPW, KWP2000, ISO9141)

• I/M Readiness indicates whether or not the various emissions-related systems on the vehicle are operating properly and are ready for Inspection and Maintenance testing.

• Freeze Frame - When an emission-related fault occurs, certain vehicle conditions are recorded by the onboard computer. This information is referred to as freeze frame data. Freeze Data is a snapshot of the operating conditions at the time of an emission-related fault.

• O2 Sensor Test -- This option allows retrieval and viewing of O2 sensor test results for most recently performed tests from the vehicle's onboard computer.

• On-Board Monitoring -- This function can be utilised to read the results of on-board diagnostic monitoring tests for specific components/systems.

• Retrieve generic (P0, P2, P3, and U0), manufacturer specific (P1, P3, and U1) codes and pending codes

• Improved live data reading, complete with colourization, live updates, and speedy refreshes

• Printing: After retrieving important data via customised testing or scanning, you can then print it out for your records.

• Accessible Interface: Highly readable screen and large silicone keys

This V4.0 scanner is capable of performing the following functions, but please note not all functions will be supported on all vehicles. Please check compatibility of your vehicle by clicking the links under each heading below. If your car is not there, it will not be supported.

• General Diagnostics
  Reading and clearing fault codes (DTCs), and viewing live data.
  
  
• Oil Service Reset Interval
  Reset the warning light that says an oil change or service is due. The scanner will do this on one-click in some cars, but for others a step-by-step process is required which the scanner will guide you through.
  
  
• SAS Calibrations
  This function allows you to reset or calibrate new Steering Angle Sensors after they have been changed.
  
  
• EPB
  The Electronic Parking Brake function allows you to manually wind back the rear brake pads into the service position, allowing you to change and recalibrate them.
  
  
• ETCs
  The Electronic Throttle Control function allows you to perform an adaptation after cleaning or replacing the Electronic Throttle Body. This function is also used when the ECU is replaced, or a negative battery terminal has been disconnected.
  
  
• BMS
  Access the Battery Management System of the vehicle in order to register a new battery and reset parameters after the battery has been changed.
  
  
• ABS Bleeding
  This function will allow you to bleed the brakes and remove air in the ABS module (Anti-lock braking system).
  
  
• DPF Regen
  Force a Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration on the vehicle when the car cannot burn off the excess soot on its own. View live data including the DPF Fill Soot Levels. A full list of the parameters that must be met before performing this function can be viewed here.
  
  
• Injector Coding
  Code new injectors to the vehicle after replacement in order to ensure the car is burning off the correct amount of fuel, and carry out an Injector Valve Test. Please note: even if this function is supported, compatibility is only guaranteed if the injectors are replaced with the same type.
  
  
• Air Conditioning Systems
  This function allows you to carry out tests on the AC system, and reset the compressor. It includes adaptations and resets of the system.
  
  
• Sensor Calibrations
  Reset various different sensors within the vehicle. Please refer to the bottom of the compatibility list to view the exact options available.
  
  
• Door, Windows, and Roof
  Use this function to calibrate and initialise the door and the roof windows.
  
  
• ECU - Engine Control Unit
  The ECU function helps to reset and replace various parts of the vehicle within the Engine Control Unit, and also includes some adaptations. Please refer to the bottom of the compatibility list to view the exact options available.
  
  
• Idling
  This function deals with the vehicle’s start/stop systems. Use it to run an Idle Speed Test and make adjustments.
  
  
• Headlight Adjustments
  Calibrate the headlights and the axle sensor.
  
  
• Seat Settings
  Reset and calibrate the seats in the car. Includes heated seat settings (climate controlled), massage, seat entry and exit, and replacements.
  
  
• SPS - Air Suspension
  This function allows you to calibrate and reset parameters, inflate, deflate and enable the Air Suspension system. Access the Ride Level Control, perform height calibrations, and set tolerances.
  
  
• TCM - Transmission Control Module
  This function allows you to recalibrate and replace sensors within the TCM, also known as the Gearbox Control Unit. Please refer to the bottom of the compatibility list to view the exact options available.
  
  
• TPMS - Tyre Pressure Management System
  Use this function to calibrate and reset the tyre pressure monitoring system, and replace tyre pressure sensors.
  
  

• ODO Meter Reset
  Reads and verifies odometer values stored across multiple ECUs. (Note: this function does not alter mileage; it is intended for lawful service and verification only.)

• Turbocharger
  Performs turbocharger learning after component replacement, or resets stored learned values.

• Exhaust Gas Recirculation
  Recirculates a portion of engine exhaust gas back into the intake system.

• Door Service
  Performs full calibration after window lift motor repair or replacement.

• AdBlue
  Resets the AdBlue (urea) level counter after the diesel exhaust fluid is refilled or replaced.
  

• Crankshaft Learning
  Performs crankshaft position learning and related calibration after engine repair.
  

• Clutch Matching
  Learns the clutch contact point and engagement position where the clutch begins to transmit engine torque. Applicable after ECU replacement, transmission removal/replacement, or clutch replacement. For adaptive clutches only.
  

• Head-Up Display
  Used for learning and calibration of heads-up display.
  

• High Voltage Battery
  Supports EV/hybrid high-voltage battery maintenance, including replacement adaptation and status monitoring.

• Vehicle Language Setting
  Changes the vehicle's system language.

• Rain Sensor
  Calibrates the rain sensor after windshield replacement or sensor renewal.

• Radar/Camera
  Performs radar and camera learning and calibration (ADAS).

• Cylinder Shutoff Test
  Tests each engine cylinder individually by disabling its fuel supply - useful for diagnosing cylinder-specific issues such as misfires or low compression.

• Speed Limit Assist
  Sets or removes the vehicle's maximum speed limit.

• O2S (Oxygen Sensor)
  Supports oxygen sensor replacement adaptation and initializes the three-way catalytic converter learned values.

• Seat Belt
  Performs seatbelt pretensioner reset and related maintenance after airbag deployment.

• Mileage Verification
  Checks and compares odometer data stored across multiple ECUs to detect mileage tampering.

• VIN Verification
  Reads and matches the VIN across all vehicle ECUs to detect inconsistencies or unauthorized module replacement.
  

The following are OE-Level Advanced Diagnostic Functions

• Dealer-Level Yaw Rate Sensor Calibration
  Calibrates the yaw rate sensor to OE standards after replacement or alignment — equivalent to the dealer SDD procedure.

• Powertrain Configuration & Adaptation Reset
  Wipes learned shift patterns to reset ECM/TCM adaptive, instantly curing harsh shifts and restoring factory-smooth drivability.

• HVAC / Throttle Stepper Motor Initialization
  Forces the PCM to relearn precise physical endpoints for throttles and blend doors, fixing erratic idles and ghost climate-control issues.

• One-Touch Bulk Stepper Motor Re-Programming
  Re-indexes all cabin blend-door actuators and temperature flaps simultaneously with a single tap, slashing hours off tedious dashboard overhauls.
  

• Smart A/C Compressor Lockout Reset
  Overrides and clears protective climate-control codes triggered by low voltage or low freon, unlocking the A/C clutch without a trip to the dealer.

In addition to the actual unit, the iCarsoft LR V4.0 also ships with a user manual, a nylon carrying case, two cables (a USB-C cable and one main cable), and a TF card already installed within the unit.

Updating the Scanner

This scanner can be updated via Wifi, or you can use the official iCarsoft updating tool here.

Updates are free for life, so the price you pay when purchasing the scanner is the only cost you will ever need to pay.

Before updating, please remove all current software from the scanner to ensure there is enough space for the download. Plug the scanner into the computer and locate its file, then delete all contents the same way you would delete files on a USB stick.

My Vehicle Isn’t Supported?

All of our compatibility lists are fully up to date, so if your vehicle isn’t supported it is likely for one of the following reasons:

• Older models - some older vehicles will not support these scanners as the software does not exist for vehicles of this age.
  
• Newer models - it takes iCarsoft around 2-3 years to develop software after vehicle releases. For example, the software for 2024 vehicles is likely to be released in 2026/2027.
  
• Electric vehicles - iCarsoft scanners do not currently support electric vehicles.
  
• The manufacturer has blocked the function - some software is not able to be created as the car manufacturer has implemented a factory access code which the scanner cannot bypass.

Automatic VIN Recognition

Whilst iCarsoft scanners are able to automatically recognise the majority of VINs, some VINs are atypical and will not follow the standard format. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that automatic VIN recognition will work on every single car. If it isn’t recognised automatically, the VIN can be entered manually.

OBD2 Connection

OBD2 is the standard connection type that allows the scanner to communicate with the vehicle.

Vehicles imported from Japan will have a different connection type which none of our scanners support. Please ensure the car is not an import and has a standard 17-digit VIN before purchase.

Returns

Due to an increased number of customers not checking compatibility before purchase, we can now only offer to cover the cost of return postage in exceptional circumstances - such as if the error regarding compatibility is our own, or the scanner itself is faulty (please see ‘Warranty’ below).

Please note that whilst our scanners are capable of performing many functions, this doesn’t mean that every single function is definitely supported on your vehicle. Please check the provided compatibility lists or contact us directly to confirm compatibility.

Upon contacting us about a return, please provide your vehicle details and the function you are trying to access, and we will check compatibility for you.

If you order a scanner that is not supported with your vehicle you are of course welcome to return for a refund within 30 days of receipt, however we kindly ask that you pay to return this yourself. We can recommend the Royal Mail Tracked 48 service as the best value option for UK customers.

If your vehicle should be supported but the scanner is not working as it should, we can also offer technical support (see below).

Technical Support

Most problems can be fixed by updating the scanner, so please try this first. Please ensure all fault codes have been cleared in order to perform the service functions.

We have a dedicated iCarsoft technician that we can contact on your behalf if you do experience an issue that we cannot resolve ourselves. Please contact us with any problems and we will do our best to get your scanner up and running as soon as possible.

In the unlikely event that we cannot get the scanner working for you, we will cover the cost of postage for your return, and refund the order in full.

Warranty

Every iCarsoft scanner comes with a 2 year warranty as standard. This includes electronic faults and problems with the use of the unit, but does not cover accidental damage, e.g. a cracked screen.

Your warranty covers you for replacement of the same scanner model only. After the initial 30 days returns period has passed, the warranty entitles you to the replacement only, and not a refund. A refund will only be offered within the initial 30 day returns period, or if the scanner is unable to be replaced for any reason (e.g. out of stock).
